ICYMI: Lt. Governor Austin Davis Fires Up Pennsylvanians in Cambria, Westmoreland, and Allegheny Counties, Highlighting the Stakes of the Midterms

Lt. Governor Davis mobilized folks to get involved ahead of the November elections

PENNSYLVANIA – With less than 40 days left until Election Day, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis spent the weekend with Pennsylvanians in Cambria, Westmoreland, and Allegheny counties, who are fired up and ready to elect Democrats up and down the ballot this November.

On Saturday, Lt. Governor Davis stopped in Cambria, Westmoreland, and Allegheny counties to thank local Democrats for their grassroots support and the momentum they are building ahead of the midterm elections. Lt. Governor Davis emphasized the importance of getting off the sidelines and getting involved this year because Pennsylvanians have the power to not only reelect him and Governor Josh Shapiro, but also flip the U.S. House of Representatives and state Senate.

On Sunday, Lt. Governor Davis, along with State Representatives Lindsay Powell, Jess Benham, La’Tasha Mayes, and Jen Mazzocco, joined Democratic candidate Hadley Haas for House District 44 to mobilize volunteers at a canvass launch. With the opportunity this November to expand the Democratic majority in the state House, Lt. Governor Davis is all gas, no breaks for candidates like Hadley Haas who are poised to flip seats and ready to keep moving our Commonwealth forward for all Pennsylvanians.

Read and watch what Pennsylvanians are seeing from Lt. Governor Davis’ stops in Cambria, Westmoreland, and Allegheny counties as he rallied Pennsylvanians to join him in helping elect Democrats up and down the ballot, including HD-44 candidate Hadley Haas.

The Tribune-Democrat: ‘Lean in’ Lt. Gov. urges Cambria County Dems to send message against ‘Trump’ economy on Election Day

  • As Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Austin Davis entered the Murtha Legacy Dinner on Saturday, he was well aware that a room full of Democrats greeting him was a rarity in west-central Pennsylvania.
  • The Republican Party has held a strong Cambria County majority for nearly a decade – “and I know it’s not always easy being a Democrat in a place like Cambria County,” Davis said.
  • But in communities such as Greater Johnstown across Pennsylvania – where families are being squeezed by tariffs, anti-worker policies and President Donald Trump’s “uncontrolled chaos,” Davis said – it will be voters from the smaller towns, cities and counties who can truly make a difference at the ballot box this Fall, he said.
  • Democrats win when like-minded voters in places like Cambria County “lean in” and ensure their voices are heard in greater numbers on Election Day, Davis said.
  • Davis and U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Montgomery, both addressed Cambria County Democrats who gathered at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown for the organization’s annual Murtha Legacy Dinner, named in honor of the late U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha.
  • Everyday Americans are struggling to keep up in today’s economy and they are looking for change, both said.
  • “People are sick of the chaos and corruption. They want stability,” Cambria County Democratic Chairwoman Nina Licastro said. “They’re tired of seeing Republican policies that don’t put workers first.”
  • And above all, people are trying to figure out how to feed their families when “ground beef costs $7.99 a pound,” and everyday goods are surging because Trump decided to slap steep tariffs on neighboring countries, she said.
  • Davis noted that the Shapiro Administration has worked to counter that by cutting taxes and fees in Pennsylvania – expanding the Childcare Tax Credit and property tax rebates program.
  • And they’ll continue to fight off any effort to enact right-to-work policies that would target Pennsylvania’s unions, Davis added.
  • The son of a hairdresser and a union bus driver, Davis cited his McKeesport roots, saying he understands how difficult it can be to make ends meet when policies aren’t looking out for the working class.
  • If Democrats can capture the majority in the state House and Senate and send the Shapiro-Davis team back into the governor’s office, it will clear the path for lawmakers to pass pro-worker measures, including boosting the minimum wage to $15 an hour, he said.
  • “It’s nice to hear politicians with workers’ rights in mind, women’s rights … and education,” said party member Kierra Pratt of Johnstown. “Actually talking about things that show that they care about us.”
