ICYMI: Lt. Governor Austin Davis and Paige Cognetti Fire Up Voters with Less than Three Weeks until Election Day

Lt. Governor Austin Davis is crisscrossing the Commonwealth to get out the vote for Democrats

PENNSYLVANIA – Yesterday, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis traveled to Northeastern Pennsylvania where he mobilized volunteers before they set out to knock doors and talk to their neighbors at two canvass launches in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties.

In Wilkes-Barre, the Lt. Governor joined Scranton Mayor and candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District Paige Cognetti on the campaign trail to encourage Pennsylvanians to get involved in this midterm election and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

This November, Pennsylvanians have the power to send a clear message to Washington by electing Paige Cognetti to Congress and rejecting Donald Trump’s chaos, cruelty, and corruption at the ballot box. Lt. Governor Davis and Governor Josh Shapiro are committed to helping elect Democrats across the Commonwealth who will be strong leaders in Harrisburg and D.C. ready to stand up and fight for Pennsylvanians.

Read below for highlights from Lt. Governor Davis’ remarks as he rallied Pennsylvanians in Wilkes-Barre with Mayor Cognetti:

“This election should be a referendum on his chaos, his cruelty, and corruption that he’s spewing out of Washington, D.C. every single day. The stakes of these midterms could not be higher. Pennsylvanians, you have the power to not just change the direction of this Commonwealth, but to change the direction of this country.

“You have the opportunity to flip the United States Congress by sending Paige to Congress. Somebody who is going to clean up corruption. She did it as the mayor of Scranton — and she’s going to go to D.C. and make sure she fights for working families.

“We have the opportunity to get a Democratic trifecta and flip the state Senate for the first time since 1992… We have so much work to do, and I want to be crystal clear on what that means for Pennsylvanians. That doesn’t just mean we’re going to control power in Harrisburg. It means we’re finally going to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. It means that we’re going to make owning a home more affordable by passing the Governor’s Housing Action Plan to make sure that Pennsylvanians have the opportunity to live the American dream and own a home. It means we’re going to codify abortion protections here in Pennsylvania to make sure that women have the rights to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions.

“We need to elect people who are going to fight for a better future and I wanted to come to Luzerne County because Paige Cognetti is that fighter.”
