Josh Shapiro Continues His “Big Fights Bus Tour” with Rallies in the Lehigh Valley and NEPA
PENNSYLVANIA – Today, Josh Shapiro brought his “Big Fights Bus Tour” to Allentown, Pittston, and Scranton, where he rallied with supporters, campaigned with federal, state, and local leaders, and pledged to protect workers as Governor.
In Allentown, Shapiro was greeted by a crowd of more than a hundred supporters, including Congresswoman Susan Wild, State Representative Schlossberg, Lehigh County Executive Phil Armstrong, and Democratic nominee for Mayor of Allentown Matt Tuerk. Shapiro highlighted the importance of getting in the game at every level – from municipal and judicial offices to statewide and federal campaigns – in order to protect the right to vote and defending our democracy.
In the afternoon, Shapiro visited UFCW Local 1776 Pittston Office with Senator Bob Casey and Congressman Cartwright to thank union members and community leaders for their support and to share his vision for Pennsylvania – one where workers’ rights are not only protected, but prioritized and expanded.
At Shapiro’s last stop, Senator Bob Casey and Mayor of Scranton Paige Cognetti joined him in front of more than one hundred supporters at Carpenters Local 445. Shapiro highlighted his record of taking on the big fights for Pennsylvania workers – from holding the Commonwealth’s largest construction company accountable when they stole from their workers to partnering with national companies during the COVID-19 pandemic to secure safe working conditions for employees – and promised to do the same as Governor.
Since launching his campaign two days ago in Pittsburgh and in his hometown of Abington, Pennsylvanians have already rallied behind Shapiro. He will continue his “Big Fights Bus Tour” over this weekend and the course of the next week, speaking to communities across the Commonwealth about the real issues they face and highlight his record of taking on the big fights, standing up to those in power, and getting things done.
