Governor Josh Shapiro and Lt. Governor Austin Davis Officially Nominated for Reelection, Kick Off General Election in Bucks County
Governor Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Davis are running for reelection to keep delivering for all Pennsylvanians and moving the Commonwealth forward
PENNSYLVANIA – Tonight, Governor Josh Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis secured the Democratic nominations for reelection this November and kicked off the general election with a show of strength and momentum in Bucks County. The Governor and Lt. Governor understand the stakes of this year’s midterms and are fighting to win up and down the ballot to elect strong Democratic leaders who will deliver results for Pennsylvanians and put a check on the chaos, cruelty, and corruption of Washington, DC.
“We’ve gotten a lot of stuff done in the last few years – growing our economy and creating thousands of good-paying jobs, investing in public education and law enforcement, standing up for our freedoms and democracy – but there’s a lot more to do. Tonight, with a commitment to continuing to fight and deliver for all Pennsylvanians, I’m proud to accept the Democratic nomination for reelection as the Governor of this great Commonwealth,” said Governor Shapiro. “This year in Pennsylvania, we have the power to reign in the chaos, cruelty, and corruption of Donald Trump and his Administration and chart a better path forward for our Commonwealth and our country – and we’re going to use it. This is our charge, this is our time, this is our task – and we’re ready to win.
“This November, Pennsylvanians have the power to not only change the trajectory of our Commonwealth, but of the country by electing strong Democratic leaders to work with me in Harrisburg and to flip the balance of power in the U.S. House.”
“Serving as Lieutenant Governor for the last three and a half years has been one of the highest honors of my life and I am deeply humbled and proud to accept the Democratic nomination for reelection,” said Lt. Governor Davis. “As a team, Governor Shapiro and I have gotten so much done to put more money back in people’s pockets and create ladders of opportunity right here in our Commonwealth. The stakes are too high to stop now and I look forward to delivering even more results for Pennsylvanians.”
So far this election cycle, Governor Shapiro has invested over $1.5 million in the organizing work and party infrastructure the Pennsylvania Democratic Party needs to win up and down the ballot in November and beyond. In the face of this Administration’s threats to our freedoms and our democracy – and in response to their disastrous policies that have raised costs and cut healthcare in order to benefit those at the very top, Pennsylvania is ready to stand up and fight back.
Josh Shapiro has been a Governor who has brought people together to get stuff done for all Pennsylvanians –– from creating jobs and putting money back in people’s pockets, to investing in law enforcement and community organizations to increase public safety, to delivering historic funding for our kids’ education, to protecting our freedoms and our democracy. Governor Shapiro has delivered results on the issues that matter most. He has shown up in moments of crisis and emergency. And he has proven every day that he is a Governor who fights for all Pennsylvanians. Now, Governor Josh Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis are running for reelection to keep getting stuff done and to keep our Commonwealth moving forward.
