ICYMI: Governor Josh Shapiro Campaigned Across Bradford, Wyoming, Luzerne, and Monroe Counties This Weekend

Governor Shapiro is crisscrossing the Commonwealth and leading the fight to elect Democrats up and down the ballot this November

PENNSYLVANIA – Yesterday, Governor Josh Shapiro traveled to Bradford, Wyoming, Luzerne, and Monroe counties to fire up Pennsylvanians and speak with voters about the stakes of the November elections.

From rallying Pennsylvanians at the Bradford County Democrats’ Annual Fall Breakfast and firing up voters in Wyoming County to go knock on doors, to joining Paige Cognetti in energizing Pennsylvanians in Luzerne County and campaigning with state Senate candidate Brian Wrightson in Monroe County — Governor Shapiro is showing up and fighting for every vote this November.

Governor Shapiro is hitting the campaign trail to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives, expand the state House majority, flip the Pennsylvania state Senate, and secure a trifecta in the Commonwealth so that he can get even more stuff done for Pennsylvanians.

Read below some of what Pennsylvanians are seeing about Governor Shapiro’s campaign swing across Bradford, Wyoming, Luzerne, and Monroe counties:

Times-Leader: Shapiro makes stop in Wilkes-Barre for canvassing launch

  • With just over two weeks remaining until Election Day, Gov. Josh Shapiro made a Sunday afternoon stop in Wilkes-Barre, joining local Democratic leaders, union members, and campaign volunteers for a canvassing launch ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

  • Shapiro was joined by former U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, state Sen. Marty Flynn, Scranton Mayor and congressional candidate Paige Cognetti, Wilkes-Barre City Council Chairwoman and state House candidate Jessica McClay, and state Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski.

  • Speaking beneath the emblem of Local 38, Shapiro thanked organized labor for its contributions to Pennsylvania and discussed his administration’s investments in workforce development, apprenticeships, and infrastructure.

  • Asked by the Times Leader why the county was an important stop on his campaign tour, Shapiro recalled meeting a mother during his first campaign for attorney general who shared the story of losing her son to a heroin overdose.

  • He said that conversation, along with others he has had with residents over the years, helped inform his work addressing addiction and expanding access to treatment and recovery resources.

  • Shapiro said he has continued returning to the region throughout his time in public office, hearing directly from residents about their schools, communities, and everyday concerns.

  • “This is a community I’ve always come to where folks have shared with me their concerns,” Shapiro said, explaining that those conversations helped shape his priorities in Harrisburg.

  • He said the visit was an opportunity not only to seek support for his own reelection but also to support candidates he hopes to work alongside in state and federal government.

  • Shapiro’s remarks included criticism of the Trump administration and congressional Republicans, particularly over health care, affordability, and government accountability. He also urged volunteers to support Democratic candidates in the upcoming election.

Wyoming County Press Examiner: Gov. Shapiro campaigns at Tunkhannock Public Library on Sunday

  • Gov. Josh Shapiro urged a receptive crowd to vote for him and other Democratic candidates during a campaign stop at Tunkhannock Public Library on Sunday, part of a four-county tour of the region with the Nov. 3 general election just 16 days away.

  • The event, organized by the Wyoming County Democratic Committee, took on the feel of a campaign rally as the standing-room-only crowd waited for Shapiro to arrive after his first stop of the day, in Bradford County.

  • “It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your governor,” he said.

  • Shapiro said his administration has invested in strengthening communities throughout the state, with a focus on infrastructure such as road and bridge repairs.

  • He said he plans to “prioritize investment in our communities,” citing support for the state’s dairy farmers and the expansion of broadband internet access in rural areas as examples during his first four years in office.

  • Shapiro plugged Hemann’s campaign and also the campaign of Rachel Wallace, the Democratic nominee for the 9th District U.S. House seat held by incumbent Republican Dan Meuser, whom the governor called “do-nothing Dan.”

  • The governor took shots at President Donald Trump and his administration, citing the unpopular war in Iran and policies regarding health and vaccination that he said contributed to the recent measles outbreak in Pennsylvania.

  • Shapiro said he enjoys his frequent visits to Northeast Pennsylvania, where he has found residents to be “a tough bunch of folks,” who “don’t back down and don’t get bullied.”

  • Shapiro urged supporters to go all out for Democratic candidates in this election, with a chance to flip the state Senate and give the Democrats control of both houses of the state legislature.

  • “You can feel lonely and isolated when you are a Democrat in these parts,” the governor said.

  • “This is our time,” he added, imploring audience members to “exercise your power” at the polls.

@sean_kitchen89: Here’s Gov. Josh Shapiro ripping into Rob Bresnahan for lying to him about promising to not cut Medicaid by $1 trillion days before voting for Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill.
