Josh Shapiro Concludes “Big Fights Bus Tour” with Visits to Lawrence, Crawford, and Erie Counties

Since launching in Pittsburgh, Josh Shapiro has visited 18 counties in 7 days, rallying thousands of Pennsylvanians behind his campaign.

PENNSYLVANIA – Today, Josh Shapiro wrapped up his “Big Fights Bus Tour” in New Castle, Meadville, and Erie, where he rallied with supporters and college Democrats, visited small businesses, and talked about the issues facing northwestern Pennsylvania – highlighting his record of delivering for Pennsylvanians no matter where they live and outlining his vision for a brighter future for the entire Commonwealth.

At his first stop in Lawrence County, County Commissioner Loretta Spielvogel and Lawrence County Democratic Party Chair Paul Stefano joined Shapiro at Riardo’s Bar and Grill, where he talked about the importance of showing up in communities across the state. Shapiro shared his plans for protecting access to health care in rural communities, tackling climate change, and supporting Main Streets and small businesses across the Commonwealth.

In the afternoon, Shapiro met with the Allegheny College Democrats in Meadville, where he thanked them for their work registering students to vote and encouraged them to continue to get in the game at every level – from municipal and judicial offices to statewide and federal campaigns – in order to protect the right to vote and defend our democracy.

At his last stop, Shapiro was greeted by supporters and Erie County Democratic Party Chair Jim Wertz, Executive Kathy Dahlkemper, State Rep. Bob Merski, and State Rep. Pat Harkins at Lavery Brewing Company in Erie. Shapiro highlighted his record of standing up for Pennsylvanians – from exposing decades of sexual abuse to protecting access to health care for more than 1.9 million people in western Pennsylvania who relied on UPMC and Highmark for access to their doctors. Shapiro spoke about how his administration will continue to take on the big fights and protect Pennsylvanians’ rights, including their voting rights, reproductive rights, and the right to organize.

Since launching his campaign last Wednesday, Shapiro has visited 18 counties – from Allegheny and Westmoreland to Philadelphia and Erie – pledging to show up and stand up Pennsylvanians in every corner of the Commonwealth. Over the course of his “Big Fights Bus Tour,” Shapiro has rallied hundreds of supporters, helped get out the vote for judicial and municipal candidates up for election in 2021, and highlighted his record of taking on the big fights, standing up to those in power, and getting things done for Pennsylvanians.
