Pa. construction firm to repay nearly $21 million to workers in prevailing wage case
A Centre County heavy construction company will pay nearly $21 million to almost 1,300 workers as part of a plea agreement in what Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro on Tuesday called the largest prevailing wage criminal case in the nation’s history.
Shapiro announced that Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., based in State College, pleaded no contest to four theft counts Tuesday morning. Under the plea, the company, which between 2003 and 2018 was awarded $1.7 billion in PennDOT road and bridge contracts, will pay a total of $20.7 million to 1,267 workers.
“The bottom line is that these workers will be made whole,” said Shapiro.
